SA’s FIRST World Première - ROSL 30/11/2021

On the 3oth November 2021 we were fortunate enough to return to the Royal Over-Seas League to perform alongside the superb Fitzroy Quartet.

We presented a programme of Old and New music for trombones:

  • Bruckner - Christus Factus Est

  • Apon - First Quartet

  • Poulenc (arr Cirtina) - Quatre Petites Prieres de Saint Francois d’Assisse

  • Paxton - ESTAMPIE (World Première)

This was a particularly special concert for us as it contained our FIRST ever world première - Alex Paxton’s ESTAMPIE. We have spent the last few months working with numerous composers, finalising commissions and planning a number of exciting projects - so it was truly so exciting for us to see one of these finally come to fruition.

Alex is a phenomenal composer who has written for a huge variety of ensembles and settings including the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and recently released an album of his own music with NMC - MUSIC FOR BOSCH PEOPLE - which we thoroughly recommend you check out. His piece for us, ESTAMPIE, conjures images of 4 medieval trombone players, utilising a colossal menagerie of sounds throughout the work. We really recommend you join us at a future concert to enjoy it.

Over the coming months we will be premièring a number of new pieces from a number of fantastic composers. We really can’t wait to share it all with you.
