Jamie is a busy freelancer in London and 1/4 of Slide Action.

From a musical family, Jamie began playing trombone at the age of 7, being taught by the legendary Alan Hutt. He was awarded a scholarship place at Wells Cathedral School, and met Benny in 2008.

After his studies at Wells with Alan, and later Andy Fawbert and Emily White, he moved to London, and to the Royal Academy of Music, studying under Mark Templeton, Matt Gee, Dudley Bright, and Ian Bousfield.

Jamie is now a busy freelancer, playing with the likes of the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as London’s West End. He has performed around the country with orchestras such as the Opera North, and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. He is also a keen jazz performer, playing with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, and Ed Leaker’s Swing Machine. In 2018 he was the principal trombone of the Britten Pears Orchestra, performing at the Snape Maltings Proms.

Aside from trombone, Jamie is a keen skier, enjoys climbing, cooking and producing electronic music, and due to a early interest in joining the circus, Jamie can also play the trombone whilst riding a unicycle.

He is currently studying at the Royal College of Music, is a Herbert Howells and Robert Fielden Scholar, and a recipient of the London Symphony Orchestra Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme.
